An afternoon with mommy and daddy

Jordan is at his Nana's house in Somerset for the weekend for some much needed individual attention, so mommy and daddy got to spend the day with Trevor. We had a wonderful lunch in Midway at Quirk Cafe and then we headed over to Johnnie and Omar's for an impromtu cookout.
Here's Trevor after our lunch ready to be loaded into the car. He had a stressful time trying to take his bottle (the reflux sometimes makes it painful for him to eat) and then we had to change his clothes from an explosive dirty diaper. I only had a long sleeve onesie in the diaper bag, so poor guy was burning up in the 80 + degree weather. You would think I would be more prepared on outings with the second child, but it hasn't seemed to work out that way . . . ..

Later, Uncle Omar held Trevor for the first time and even fed him (with no crying!!!).

Cousin Kaitlyn

Mommy's Aunt Kathy, Cousins Jen and Allison and Allison's daughter Kaitlyn came to visit us for a little while today. Unfortunately for Kaitlyn, Jordan wasn't around to play with (he's at his Nana's for the weekend), but she wasn't too bothered because she apparently LOVES babies. Here she is admiring, and kissing, Trevor.

More of my boys

Trevor - 5/31/08 (5 weeks, 3 days old)
Jordan, I'm not sure of the date, but it is probably August of '05 around the same age.

They are starting to look different now. And, as you can see, one of them eats significantly more than the other. The reflux certainly hasn't left Trevor malnourished.

Reflux

So, we've determined that Trevor has infant acid reflux. Apparently, this is quite common among babies and a lot of people believe that what is often labeled as "colic" is either reflux or a milk protein allergy. Anyway, it's quite painful and Trevor seems to have a worse than average case of it. Hence, he has spent most of his six weeks looking like this. As you can imagine, after a while, my nerves are shot.

We've been working on a combination of medicines and formulas with rice cereal added and we're starting to have more moments like this. Say some prayers that they become more frequent.
If you're interested, there's more on infant reflux here http://www.infantreflux.org/

At the park

A subdivision near us has a great park/playground. Jordan loves to go there and play.

Fishin'

Auntie and her boyfriend, Lucas, took Jordan fishin' this weekend. Lucas was very sweet and bought Jordan his own fishing pole. As you can see, Jordan had fun and even caught a fish, but wasn't too keen on having his picture taken with it. Apparently, he kept saying "PUT IT BACK!"

Happy Mother's Day

Yes, there is a child missing from these photos. It's because he has taken to completely undressing himself as soon as we walk in the door and on this particular day at Nana's house, he refused to put his clothes back on so we could take pictures.

Trevor and Grandma

My boys

To all of you who have been bugging me about pictures, here is a whole litany. God certainly knew what he was doing when he made my children. Apparently, we have the "colic gene" in our family and I ended up with two criers. But they are SO darn cute, I just can't be upset at them for too long.

What about this pose Jordan is striking?

I will never understand why being curled up in a ball is so comfortable, but apparently, it is. All babies seem to love it.

This picture came after Jordan pleaded, "Mommy take a picture of me."

A rare moment of peace:More posing:

Some Quotes

So, I thought I'd share some funny things heard around the Gilford house lately.

This one was while I was still in the hospital:

Jordan: Mommy, you have another Trevor in your belly?
Mommy: No.
Jordan: Yes you do, right there (pointing to my belly).

At home, while I was nursing Trevor:

Jordan: Where's Trevor's bottle?
Another adult: Trevor gets milk from Mommy.
Jordan: He's eating Mommy???

And, this one is from Auntie's boyfriend in reference to my maternity leave:

"So, what are you going to do all day for three months?"
